Been A While

I really haven't blogged for quite some time now. I told myself I would try and do BEDA again this year, but I forgot about it for some reason. Maybe I just didn't want to...

Whatever the case may be, this may be, once again, my last post for quite some time. Remember how long ago I went to Fort Dodge to join the National Guard? Well, tomorrow I'm finally shipping to basic training. I'm nervous as hell, and I've only had a couple days of summer vacation.

Oh yeah, I graduated! I am in high school no more! But now I'm worried about getting into college. I applied to the University of Iowa (Galen's there already), but they said they needed my final transcript before making a decision. My GPA's not the very best, which is why the need to see it, but I took some pretty hard classes this year, and got C's in them. Now I'm all worried about not getting into college because U of I is the only one I've signed up for so far, and I'm pretty sure it's too late for others. I guess if I don't get in I could wait a year and apply somewhere else. But U of I is the only campus that I've truly loved! (Although that might be because I had some kind of obligation at every other campus I've been to .)

It's nice to be finally posting my feelings and personal problems and worries and stuff on the internet once again. (because I know how much everyone cares about that.)

It's a good thing I can bring a cell phone to basic. It's more of a good thing that I can check my e-mail from it, or tweet, or even blog. It's good to know that I'll have some sort of connection to the outside world.

Unfortunately I've got a few things I have to do to get ready for tomorrow. Packing supplies, unloading backpack to carry said supplies, and all that. I love you all and will see you later

A new source of internet!

You can probably tell from the title that I'm probably typing this from something other than Sparky, my beloved laptop. Well, my Wii has been at Dani's house for quite some time, mainly because I didn't really play it too much, and she liked playing Zelda. But one day something weird happened and she ended up accidentally deleting her file, sending her into a spiraling depression. Well, not really, but she didn't want to play anymore. So she asked me to take it back, which I delayed for a while because it takes quite a bit of room in my basement, with all the cords and accessories and whatnot. Also, I tried connecting to our new wireless internet a while ago from my DS, but it said that it was incompatible. This made me think "oh, nintendo stuff won't work..." so I didn't really try connecting it. But then Dani and I rented Mario Kart last night and played it for a bit, then got bored of it after playing 3 rounds. So I somehow made my way to the internet connection setup screen, just to see if it would work, and lo and behold, it works! It was quite a pleasant surprise. So I'm typing this post from the Wii, since you can use keyboards on the internet channel.

Along with internet stuff, I can also get Wii points and get games for the virtual console! So far I got Star Fox (so much nostalgia) and the first episode of Strong Bad's Cool Game For Attractive People (silly name). Both have been lotsa fun. In fact I think I might go play them riiiiiight...now!

now.

had a weird dream that could take several tweets to explain. or I could blog it. that would work too

So I had a dream that we were at a home football game, and the marching band was playing. Although the band was sitting in the middle school section. Nick asks me if he could be drum major, and I agree for some reason. I somehow have my clarinet ready, and we all appear on the track, somehow without actually moving there. We're all in lines, except I'm on the end in my own line without anyone else. Nick whistles us the signal (I gave him my whistle I suppose) but he starts whistling to the beat of the drum cadence. We get to our spots on the track and make a right face, facing the field. It appears that we're about to play Ascend, but we're just gonna run onto the field. We do, but I don't know where my spot is since I've never had to march this. Suddenly I see some football players running on to the field from both ends, and when I look around, there are no other band players on the field and I'm already on the back hash!! I jog off embarrassed and try to find some other band members, but they're nowhere to be found. For some reason I know that Mr. E is in the locker room, so I go through the tunnel to find him. I'm going down some stairs (the layout was different than in real life) and there's a rainbow coming out of some sort of vent in the ceiling, hitting the floor. I realize I could try and run through it to see what it's like, but I seem to know it's a dream by now, and I realize that I would probably forget about Mr. E once I do. But then I realize that it probably won't even be there if I do walk away, so I slowly walk away, and turn around to see it dissolving and the vent closing. So by that time I was pretty sure I was dreaming, because when I find Mr. E around the corner he's wearing some sort of sleeveless dress...thing. And a little makeup. I mutter "Ok, it is [a dream]." He turns to me and we have the coolest dream conversation ever:
"So...what happened out there?"
"Well, Nick wanted to be drum major, and I figured that would be alright."
"Ah. Well, I suppose it would've been if he had done a better job."
"Yeah, but it's probably ok. I'm pretty sure this is just a dream anyway."
"Oh? How can you tell?
"Well, everyone disappeared when I marched on, there was a rainbow around the corner, the locker room doesn't look like this, and you're wearing a dress."
"Good point."

We end up going back to the band room to change, but the band room is the chorus room and the door leading outside has the uniform room instead. There's some girl in the room, and sees Mr. E and wonders "am I dreaming?" I say "no, I am." She says "are we both?" We accept that we are both having a dream involving Mr. E in a dress. I then woke up.

Totoro and other fun things!

Man, I haven't posted in so long! I thought I would be blogging a lot more after I got Sparky (that's my laptop's name), but I guess I got the mentality of "I can do it anytime, I'll do it later." I really should be doing this more often, considering this is one of the few social things to do on the internet...that is, when people actually read it. (as my friends often do.)

Me and Dani went to visit Galen in college!! It was pretty fun. When we first got there, we got lost. Turns out Google Maps was leading me to the hospitals of the university, so we had to call Galen and have him guide us to his dorm. This proved to be a bit difficult with there being a one-way street going the opposite direction of where we needed to be going. We finally found a parking ramp, then moved after we found a cheaper one. Then we went to see his room for the first time. It was completely trashed like any college dorm should be. The funny thing about the whole building was that in the hallway there was a bulletin board with "Tips from the [SE]X-men." The whole board was about things like "women aren't your fuck toys" (explained by the "X-women"), but the most humorous (and slightly unfortunate) part was that Professor X, the wheelchair-bound one whose junk probably doesn't work like it's supposed to, talks about "alternatives." I could barely control my laughter at this. So after all that, we went to this nifty area of the university with all sorts of restaurants and shops. We mainly went to the mall to stores called Gypsy Magic and Gamers. I got a bunch of incense at GM and a bunch of old-school games at Gamers! Turns out this was a store where the employees seemed to know what they were selling, regardless of how old it was; Chrono Trigger was like $50! It appears they're sold based on the quality of the game, not the time factor. So I got Zelda and Illusion of Gaia for the SNES for around $20, and Sonic 1&2 for the Sega for around $3. I could've sworn it was a typo on the second, but it really was 95 cents! This was the extent of our day, and we got lost momentarily on the way back, since we accidentally took the road we got to after we were lost, ended up in Coralville for a bit. We eventually found our way back though, and we ended up at home safely.

I finally found a torrent for a bunch of Hayao Miyazaki movies!! After a brief struggle with getting it to run, I downloaded Winamp and it all worked fine. Me and Dani watched My Neighbor Totoro and loved it very much. Dani almost got teary-eyed at the end because it was just that good!! Go watch it! NOWW!!

All I've got for now. Perhaps I will update more often? Until then, I'm off to bed. Good night!

A post waiting to be posted...until now!

"Ok, so I'm not typing this post all at once, but I'm writing it out for now and posting this when I can. Currently it's 1:38 am. I really should be in bed, but I got distracted by anime and video games, which I will explain further on down.

I haven't posted anything for a while but any time I do it's usually griping about work. Can't guarantee that I'll stop that, but I'll just get it out of the way for now:

"You want me to work a double shift? Fuck no! Give me maybe a couple days notice and then we'll see, but right when my regular shift starts??" "Why are you coming in through the exit? Could it be because you're too distracted from smoking and texting at the same time?? Oh, you've got a young daughter with you, that's a great idea. Way to put her life in danger!" "What makes you think that's the right way to park?" "No we don't have sugar free ice cream!!" "Why do I work so much!!??" "Oh, 250 bucks, that's why."

I've had quite a bit to talk about, but never really had the time to post on here. I had a list of what to type, but I lost it...somewhere.....so I guess I'll just wing it. First off, I got a new computer!! It's a Compaq, Presario CQ60 (look it up). It's shiny and black and awesome. Though I recently found out it isn't necessarily for 3D games, so Austin bought Call of Duty 4 and found out the hard way. So much lagging! Although he also got Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, and that runs pretty well. He says he's addicted, and I'm finally starting to play it more often. Man you level up for doing pretty much anything! Running: LVL UP! Jumping: LVL UP! Croutching (which is "sneaking"):LVL UP! Getting hit? LVL UP! "Your armor skills have increased" as it says. Basically, "You've been smacked enough."

My mom's been thinking about finally getting some decent internet! Then I won't have to go to the library or 2nd street every time I need to Google something!

I've been getting into more animes recently. Thanks to my new computer-weilding abilities, I can use BitTorrent! I'm currently downloading the first season of Digimon! Wierd, I know, but I liked it. I saw the first few episodes of Azumanga Daiyo. It seemed strange. I was gonna watch more, but I was distracted by other animes: Galen loaned me a cd for the first season of "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya." This girl decides that life is boring and wants to find spirits, aliens, espers, time travelers, etc. Turns out she's like a god and can make stuff she wants to happen, happen. She doesn't know this though, and her new friends (who a few are said etcs) must humor her to keep the world as they know it normal, or all that stuff will become commonplace if she knows about it, fucking up the entire universe.

I also started watching "Lucky Star." It's pretty much just 4 friends (18 year old girls that look like they're 10) talking about random things. They talk about food for 8 minutes in the first episode. The weird thing is that I can't stop watching it! The show seems to have no real plot aside from extended discussions, yet its still fun to watch. Or rather, listen to. Sometimes I go do other things while also listening to them just talking, changing the window back every now and then to look for a scene change that may have occured.

I let Jason borrow my iPod cable for his radio show (which is right after ours) since he lost his. I came back the next week hoping to get it back, but he didn't show up for some reason. I thought it was ok though, since he could just give it to me the week after, but I ask for it then and he says he put it on the table by the computer in the studio. He looks around, but it's not there anymore. I've got Jimmy (station manager) keeping his eyes out for it, and nothing. So I borrowed Auriel's cable so I can put all this Mogwai and Go! Team that I recently acquired...somehow...onto it. I then went on a spree of deleting most of the music that I don't like/listen to to free up some space, since I plan on getting better music soon. But guess what Auriel does while I'm not looking? She puts a bunch of HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL and OTHER SHAMEFUL MUSIC onto it!! GOD!! The point of deleting this all was to eliminate any possibility of a shameful shuffle, should my music be plugged into speakers at a party or the stereo at work. Now I can't delete it since I still don't have my cable! "Shake It?" Come on, I've heard that at the Sweet Spot way to much to know I don't want it!! I'm sorry if this offends Auriel, but HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL DOD GAMMIT!

A bunch of us are kind of sad at the moment. Galen's leaving for college on Friday. College! At the age of 15! How does he do it? Nobody knows. Though it could be hard for him to do the radio show while up there. We set up Skype so he can still be there in a way, but knowing our luck the computer in the studio probably won't be able to hear voice calls or the internet will be dead right when the show starts. Plus Auriel's leaving for Interlochen in a while as well, so chances are the show could get kind of boring. Galen wasn't there a couple weeks ago, and I was hoping to do things a bit differently, whatever that meant. But then I ended up reading an article word for word for almost 15 minutes, while Duncan chose to not give much input or make any witty remarks, unlike usual. Seems without Galen he has nobody to battle with words.

Wow, it's almost 2 am now. I really should be getting to bed, since I have to meet my brother in the morning so he doesn't walk into the church with a shotgun in his hands. Let me explain that last statement: Austin is spending the night at a friend's, and they are both into airsoft rifles, which are those plastic bullets you can shoot at each other and not get a trip to the emergency room. His friend's mom is taking him to church and I have to meet him there so he can put his gun in my car. That explains that.

Ok, I really have to get to bed now. Goodnight all. Or good day. Whenever this gets posted."
____________
Ok, so that big post above was written several weeks ago, and I'm finally getting around to posting it. I do, however, have the ability to follow up on each paragraph above.

Sweet Spot over. Last paycheck recieved, no more griping about that place.

I do in fact have a computer now.

Mom actually got the internet!!!!! There is INTERNET at my HOUSE. AT LAST. It's not dial up either. It's dsl with wireless! People keep saying stuff about dsl sucking, but I really don't care at this point. I've had nothing/dialup for the whole time we've lived here, and I'm sick of it.

1st Digimon season = finished. Moving on to the second.

Still watching all that anime.

HSM is gone from my ipod.

Galen has gone to college, but he's making regular visits now Plus we've got skype and twitter and all that stuff so it's almost like he hasn't even left. We've been hanging out for quite a bit the past few days. We watched Kiki's Delivery Service, which is now Dani's first Hayao Miyazaki movie ever. Auriel has also left, but we can still talk to her since she also has skype.

Austin went to some giant airsoft war that was supposed to be overnight, but mom wouldn't let him go for more than a day because there'll probably be drunken idiots everywhere at night.

Well that's all for now. Good thing I can post whenever I want now!!

Late night at dani's

It's 11:30 and I'm at dani's. We've stayed up late, and we're about to go see the new Harry Potter. I hear it's pretty good, but I'm sure it still butchers the book to no end. How is it that the longer the books get the shorter the movies become? What the sense make?? We're making pizza rolls because we're hungry. Then it's off to the movie. Austin wanted to go but my mom didn't want him (and his friend who she doesn't know if he's allowed) to go. They got everything set up with all of their friends, got really excited, realized they still needed to ask my mom, asked, and got rejected. dani and I laughed quite hard at their misfortune; we felt like jerks for laughing.

Movie time!! Off to the theater!

OW GOD DAMMIT THESE PIZZA ROLLS ARE BURNING MY MOUTH OWWWW!

Sitting in a hotel room with some guy whose name I don't know

I signed up to be in the guard band a while ago, and now I'm at the entry center. Well, I WAS a while ago, but now I'm staying overnight at a hotel with other entries. I know none of their names, and I'm sharing a room with one. I took the written test today which took three hours, so I'm pretty tired. I got an 85, and I needed a 50 to pass. But now I'm more nervous than ever. I'll have to cut my hair!! D: For some reason all this paperwork makes me feel a combimation of tired and sad. So many trees!

I'd write more, but I have to get up at 4:30 tomorrow for the second part of enlistment. It could be hard to sleep since I have Sgt. Pepper and I Get By With a Little Help From My Friends stuck in my head. Good night!
